Major Ankara road to be blocked over adverse ruling on presidential palace

A major thoroughfare in the Atatürk Forest Farm (AOÇ), a previously protected area in the capital of Ankara containing Turkey's controversial presidential complex, will be blocked to vehicular traffic, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality as saying.

Turkey's AKP, CHP to meet for make or break talks on coalition this week

A meeting between the leaders of Turkey?s Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Republican People?s Party (CHP) failed to produce a breakthrough on a coalition government, but doors were left open, with both sides announcing that a final decision will be made later this week.

Thousands gathered for a demonstration in Istanbul's Bak?rköy district on Aug. 9, to call for peace in an event organized by the Peace Bloc, which consists of around 80 civil society organizations and is supported by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and some deputies from the Republican People's Party (CHP).
