Recognition of same-sex unions in Croatia

In what campaigners call a "historic decision" for LGBT rights in Croatia, the Zagreb Administrative Court on Thursday ruled that a same-sex couple, Ivo Segota and Mladen Kozic, have the right to become foster parents.

Croatia is preparing a new law on family that will introduce many new provisions, to which the public has "reacted strongly," Croatian media are reporting.

One of these provisions will strip the right of a family that has no children to be considered a family.

The Croatian government met one of the demands of ex-soldiers from the 1991-95 war who have been protesting for two months outside the veterans’ ministry in Zagreb.
