Authorities on the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Thursday pledged to remove an unsightly and smelly trash baler from an illegal landfill that abuts a protected natural park following criticism from environmental groups.
Pupils urged to return books

According to a recent study by the Diofantos Institute for Computer Technology and Press, some 28 million books are distributed every year to middle- and high-school students.

Baby's body discovered at Larissa recycling plant
A dead infant was found among recyclable materials at a garbage sorting center in Larissa, central Greece, on Monday.
According to local reports the baby - just a few weeks old - was discovered by an employee at the sorting plant.
The infant was transferred to a morgue, where an autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.
