Helleniq planning RES investments, while eyeing hydrocarbons

Helleniq Energy is 12 to 18 months away from deciding whether to go ahead with drilling in the Ionian Sea and off the coast of the western Peloponnese, the CEO of the Greek petroleum firm told the Delphi Economic Forum on Thursday, adding that while the shift to greener forms of energy will happen, a "realistic plan" is needed in the meantime.

Seismic research data from Ionian and Crete to be available by end-2023

The first reliable findings from seismic research in the Ionian Sea and an area west-southwest off the coast of Crete will be available by the end of 2023 and this data will determine whether exploratory drilling will be carried out, hydrocarbon industry sources said on Monday.

Gas exploration in Black Sea to cover 10,000 square kilometers

Seismic analysis activities will be conducted in a 10,000-square-meter area in the Black Sea for new natural gas discoveries, Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez told a group of journalists on March 3.

"We are aiming to drill a new exploratory well in one of the gas fields that is deemed to have potential," Dönmez said.
