Cyprus is sending Syrian migrants back to Lebanon. The UN is concerned but Cypriots say it’s lawful

The United Nations refugee agency said Friday it was "extremely concerned" over the return of more than 100 Syrian nationals from Cyprus to Lebanon without being screened to determine whether they need legal protection and who may be deported back to their war-wracked homeland.

Nearly half of the Ukrainian Refugees in Germany plan to stay

Of the more than one million Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Germany to escape the war, 44% would like to stay in the country long-term, according to a survey published on Wednesday and cited by Reuters.

There was a 39 percent increase in Ukrainian refugees who said they planned to stay in a previous survey released in late summer 2022.

Ensuring the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their country remains a priority for the United Nations, but the current situation in Syria means that the conditions needed for voluntary return will require some additional time, according to the Türkiye representative to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Bulgaria: National Palace of Culture to light blue for World Refugee Day

The National Palace of Culture (NDK), in Sofia will be lit in the colour blue on the evening of 20 June to mark World Refugee Day. The initiative is part of UNHCR's, the UN Refugee Agency, marking of the international day to honour people who have been forced to flee.

In honor of World Refugee Day, the open-air Vox cinema in Exarchia will be hosting a free-entry screening of the multi-award-winning film "Mediterraneo: The Law of the Sea," directed by Marcel Barrena. The drama is based on a true story of the harsh reality of the refugee life. The film is in Greek, English and Spanish, with Greek subtitles.
