Press organization hangs banner for arrested Turkish journalist in Strasbourg

774 journalists fired, 156 detained last year in Turkey: CHP
Almost 800 journalists were fired in Turkey last year, while 156 were detained and nearly 500 legal actions were taken against journalists by judicial authorities, according to a senior member of the country's main opposition party.
110 journalists killed in 2015, most in 'peaceful' countries: RSF
A total of 110 journalists were killed around the world in 2015, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said on Dec. 29, noting that while many died in war zones the majority were killed in supposedly peaceful countries.
China as "world's biggest prison for journalists"
Fewer journalists were imprisoned this year but the number of those kidnapped increased significantly, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said.
In a report published on Tuesday, the NGO said the number of imprisoned journalists fell 14 percent compared to 2014 and was at 153, while 54 professional journalists were kidnapped in 2015 - up 35 percent on 2014.

"Censorship in Serbia is easy to prove" - RWB
BELGRADE -- Executive director of Reporters Without Borders Christian Mihr has said that "censorship in Serbia is neither direct nor transparent, but is easy to prove."
Mihr is one of the authors of the organization's recently published report about media freedom in the world, the Beta agency said.
