Greek FM: Skopje To Announce New Constitutional Name for Macedonia

ATHENS (Sputnik) - Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said on Monday that Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev had already chosen country's new constitutional name among three proposed options, which are the Republic of New Macedonia, the Republic of Northern Macedonia, and the Republic of Upper Macedonia.

The schimastic Orthodox Christian church of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) has appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarchate to join its ranks, in a move that is seen as having an important impact on ongoing name talks between Skopje and Athens.

Serbia Pulled Diplomats From Macedonia Over 'Offensive' Actions

Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian President, on Monday said the whole staff of the Serbian embassy was withdrawn from Macedonia after Belgrade obtained "evidence of very offensive intelligence against the institutions of Serbia".

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic gave a similar statement to the news agency Tanjug, also citing "offensive actions against the Republic of Serbia."
