Police Officer Killed in Bosnia Police Station Attack

One police officer is dead and two have been left wounded after an alleged Islamist attack in Zvornik, northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The gunman, identified as Nerdin Ibric, parked his car by the police station, got out and opened fire shouting "Allahu Akbar", according to BalkanInsight.

Ibric was also killed in the shootout with police that followed.

The President of Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, Milorad Dodik, said his entity may withdraw from Bosnia's state-level security apparatus following an attack on a police station in the east of the country.
 
"Republika Srpska was shot at and we have right to defend ourselves, and we will defend ourselves," Dodik said.

Police and security agencies increased security levels after the attack on a police station in the eastern Bosnian town of Zvornik on Monday evening which left one policeman dead and two injured.

The attacker, who was identified as Nerdin Ibric, a Bosniak born in 1991, was also killed in the shootout with police officers.

ZVORNIK - One police officer was killed and two others were wounded late Monday around 7 p.m. when a gunman broke into a police station in Zvornik, a town in Republika Srpska near the Serbian border, Spokesman of the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry Milan Salamadija said.

The attacker shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) was shot dead during the attack, Salamadija said.
