Pylos shipwreck death toll continues to climb with 78 bodies found
At least 78 bodies have been found by rescuers conducting search-and-rescue operations on Wednesday following the capsizing of a fishing vessel off the town of Pylos in the Peloponnese. There are fears that the death toll may still yet increase further. 104 people on board have been rescued, with information suggesting that the people on board may have exceeded 400.
Dozens of migrants dead, fears for hundreds missing in Greece shipwreck
At least 79 migrants died after their boat sank off the Peloponnese, Greece's coastguard said Wednesday, as concern mounted that the death toll could rise much higher.
Some 100 people were rescued after the packed fishing boat capsized in international waters in the Ionian Sea in an operation complicated by strong winds, the coastguard said.
Traffic accident in Kifissia leaves six injured
Six people were injured, with four in serious condition, following a traffic accident involving two vehicles that took place on Monday morning in the northern Athens suburb of Kifissia. The accident occurred at the intersection of Kifissias Avenue and Diligianni Street.

One dead after migrant boat half-sinks off Mani
One person died after a sailboat carrying dozens of migrants run aground ground and half-sunk on a beach on the western coast of the Mani Peninsula, southern Greece, late Wednesday night, the Coast Guard said.
Authorities said they found 47 migrants on the beach of Arfigia who managed to disembark from the vessel, while one person died while he was still on the boat.

Armed forces’ search dogs awarded for rescuing 78 people
Search and rescue dogs, dubbed the "silent heroes," of the Turkish Armed Forces have been awarded for saving the lives of 78 people from the rubble following the deadly Kahramanmaraş-centered quakes that ripped through Türkiye's south last month.
A total of 29 dogs from the Turkish Armed Forces Humanitarian Aid Brigade were taken to the quake zone with their teams.
Search and rescue team succeeds UN program
An all-volunteer Turkish search and rescue team, GEA, has successfully completed a one-week assessment exercise conducted by the United Nations.
Due to this the Turkish team, which is a part of INSARAG, a U.N. network of more than 90 disaster-prone and disaster-responding countries and organizations, since 1999, has now been declared as a "light team quality assurance working group."

Hikers warned against using navigation in mountains
Ljubljana – The Kranj Police Department has called on those heading to the mountains to use marked trails and official maps rather than resorting to GPS navigation, which can lead into dangerous situation.
The appeal comes after rescue teams had to rescue several hikers – all foreign citizens – in the area of Mt Vogel in the Julian Alps four times in the last month.

More and more hikers have insufficient knowledge about mountaineering equipment and underestimate the mountains, the authorities warn, urging responsible behaviour.
Inquiry opened for Italy helicopter crash killing four Turks
Italian prosecutors have held an inquiry lawsuit about the helicopter crash in the northern Italian province of Modena, which killed 7 people including four Turks, with charges of "involuntary manslaughter" and "causing calamity."
According to Italian media outlets, there is no suspect in the investigation for the prosecutors "as of today."
