Turkish restaurants are facing a growing problem of customers making reservations and then not showing up, and to combat this issue, the industry is considering implementing a prepayment system for reservations, a sector representative has announced.

Almost a quarter of hoteliers (23%) have already received the first reservations for the Easter period, and over a third (37%) say that they registered the first reservations for the summer holidays season, according to an analysis done by the online platform Travelminit.ro. The platform adds that 19% of respondents confirm that the unit they own is completely booked for the Easter holidays.

The government has run into serious reservations on the part of its creditors and the banks concerning the replacement of the protection system for debtors' primary residences, with the clock ticking down to the deadline for the submission of the necessary bill, as the current system expires on Thursday.

Early next week the government will send the country's creditors the final text of the amendment to the Katseli law, as up until Friday certain disagreements remained among the competent government officials on how to respond to reservations expressed by the creditors.

The Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), which has paved the way for blocking Booking.com in Turkey, has decided to take legal action against 20 other online reservation and travel portals.

A few days ago, inspectors of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) directorate visited Varna's unique sky restaurant (it is actually a large platform hanging down from a hot air balloon), disguised as customers, reported Standart News. 

They were asked to make reservations worth 150 levs (just under EUR 75) each, but did not receive any receipts upon payment.
