Central Athens street clashes injure 16
A student rally against an education bill that was ratified in Parliament on Friday was marred by clashes with police.
Seven police officers and nine civilians were injured.
The clashes erupted after student associations from all over Greece gathered at Athens University's Propylaea in the city center and marched to Parliament.

Police detain 424 suspects after hooligan attack; police officer in critical condition
Police have detained 424 suspects following violence in Rentis, Piraeus, during a Thursday night volleyball match between local rivals Olympiakos and Panathinaikos which resulted in severe injuries to a police officer.
Iran riot police deployed after 67 arrested in Isfahan
Riot police were deployed in force on Nov. 27 in the Iranian city of Isfahan, a day after dozens were arrested in violent protests over the drying up of a lifeblood river.
Security forces fired tear gas during the clashes with stone-throwers in the protest in the dry bed of the Zayadneh Rood river that crosses the city, Fars and ISNA news agencies said.

Riot in women’s prison in Thiva after detainee dies
A riot erupted at Eleonas' Womens' Prison in central Greece on Thursday morning after a woman whom detainees suspected of being infected with the new coronavirus died earlier in the day.
The prisoners burned mattresses and called for immediate measures to protect their health and reduce overcrowding.
Lesvos man accused of vandalism attack on riot police
A resident of the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos has been identified as one of the assailants in a vandalism attack last month against riot police officers sent there to quell unrest over plans to build a new migrant facility.

The Senate of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) has decided to shut down the university this week after police found several items on the premises used by rioting anarchists.

Riot police units targeted in downtown Athens
Three attacks on police riot units took place within the space of an hour on Monday near the Athens University of Economics and Business.
The first incident occurred at around 3 p.m. when unknown assailants threw rocks at a riot police unit stationed on Derigni Street.
That was soon followed by a similar attack on officers on nearby Mavromataion Street.
