Turkey launches comparative Turkovac-CoronoVac vaccine trials

Turkey has started to administer its homegrown COVID-19 vaccine candidate to volunteers at a major hospital in the capital Ankara as part of the jab's Phase 3 clinical trials to compare its efficacy to that of the Chinese-developed CoronaVac shot, the country's top health official announced on July 16. 

Turkey holds Phase 3 trials for local vaccine candidate

Turkey has begun to administer its national COVID-19 vaccine candidate, TURKOVAC, on volunteers in Istanbul as part of Phase 3 trials.

Jointly developed by the Health Ministry, Health Institutes of Turkey (TUSEB) and Erciyes University, the national inactive candidate vaccine is being administered at the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital ahead of wider use.

CNCAV: 17,075 people immunized against COVID in last 24 hours, 10,409 with first dose

In the last 24 hours there have been 17,075 vaccine doses administered, of which 10,528 doses of Pfizer vaccine, 5,739 of Johnson&Johnson vaccine, 502 of Moderna vaccine and 306 of AstraZeneca vaccine, according to a briefing sent on Wednesday by Romania's National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV).

New York Celebrates End of Covid Restrictions with Fireworks

Fireworks were set off in New York City and across the state to celebrate the fact that more than 70% of adults have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This allowed the last restrictions to be lifted, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Tuesday.
