Turkey joins EU COVID pass system

The European Union will accept Turkish COVID-19 certificates as of Aug. 20, the European Commission announced on on Aug. 19.

The EU executive body adopted equivalence decisions for the COVID-19 certificates issued by the authorities of Turkey, North Macedonia, and Ukraine.

15,260 people vaccinated against COVID in last 24 hours

As many as 15,260 vaccine doses from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson&Johnson were administered in the last 24 hours, of which 10,831 represent the first dose, and 4,429 the second dose, according to a briefing sent on Wednesday by Romania's National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV).

Turkey launches comparative Turkovac-CoronoVac vaccine trials

Turkey has started to administer its homegrown COVID-19 vaccine candidate to volunteers at a major hospital in the capital Ankara as part of the jab's Phase 3 clinical trials to compare its efficacy to that of the Chinese-developed CoronaVac shot, the country's top health official announced on July 16.
