19 People Were Injured in Car Crashes for the Last 24 Hours

One person was killed and 19 were injured in crashes in the country last night. This was reported by the Ministry of Interior press centre. A total of 15 serious road accidents have occurred in the country.

There have been 26 reported mild and two serious crashes in Sofia, in which two people have been injured.

Above average death rate in traffic accidents: estimated number of 170-180 casualties

Rebic underlined that drunk-driving is major factor that causes traffic accidents.
"Statistics show that in the past ten years, between 170 to 260 people have been killed in traffic accidents during the summer season", Rebic told Radio-Television of Serbia.

Stepped-up Measures as Road Accidents at the Bulgarian Coast Increased

The State Agency for Road Safety on August 9 called an extraordinary meeting in Varna because of the frequent road accidents on the Black Sea coast. The purpose of the meeting is for all relevant institutions to present measures aimed at reducing road accidents, reports BNT. 

Preliminary data show that the number of road accidents in urban areas and third-class roads are increasing.

Experts from the State Agency for Road Traffic Safety held the first of a series of meetings announced with local authorities about the forthcoming amendments to the Road Traffic Act to regulate the use of such vehicles.

The State Is Considering Regulation for Electric Scooters

The State Agency for Road Safety proposes the introduction of regulation for electric scooters in the Road Traffic Act and the Road Vehicles Act, the Agency said.

This type of vehicle is increasingly spreading throughout the European Union, and Bulgaria is no exception. Several incidents with them show a strong need to develop mandatory minimum rules for their safe road traffic.
