Safe Driving Index for 2019 Will Be Announced Today
Over 56,000 Bulgarian drivers have taken part in this year's SDIndex (Safe Drive Index) initiative. The study, supported by several institutions, aims at introducing a national index for identifying risks in the behaviour of motor vehicle drivers in Bulgaria.
National Road Safety Coordination Center is Established
A National Coordination Center for Safe Road Traffic is being established, the government decided today.
The main task of the new center is to reduce the response time for heavy road accidents or the occurrence of temporary obstacles on the roads as a result of severe weather conditions or other force majeure circumstances.
Road fatalities down 44 pct since 2010
Although fatalities due to road accidents involving cars and motorcycles have dropped an impressive 44 percent since 2010, safety levels on Greek roads remain low compared to the European Union average.

There Are an Average of 18 Road Traffic Accidents Per Day in Bulgaria
Every day in our country there are an average of 18 road traffic accidents, and 10% of them are fatal for some of the participants. This was stated by the chairman of the State Agency "Road Safety" Malina Krumova.
This week is marked as World Road Safety Week, which the United Nations marks 6 to 12 May, the State Agency for Road Safety announced.
North Macedonia Fails to Lower Road Death Rate
They compared well to the deadliest year in a while, 2013, which saw 199 road deaths.
However, over a decade, the country has made no real progress and is just back where it started.
According to European Commission data on road deaths in the 28 member states for last year, 25,100 people died on European roads in 2018, representing a rate of 49 casualties per 1 million people.
