Ambulance service plans new parking spaces to avoid Thessaloniki flyover construction delays

Two new ambulance parking bases in Thessaloniki will be established in the coming days to address severe delays in ambulance transfers caused by ongoing construction of the Thessaloniki flyover.

Ambulance drivers told state-run broadcaster ERT on Monday that there was daily traffic gridlock on both lanes of the peripheral road, causing significant delays in their operations.

Kicked off their curb

Residents of central Athens districts have long complained that bars and restaurants have taken over their sidewalks and the vehicles of visitors their parking spaces. As several of them told Kathimerini, the situation keeps getting worse.

Almost entire Germany will stop

The farmers did so on the first day of protests against the government's plans to phase out agricultural subsidies.

State services expressed concern about this and called this protest the largest in post-war history. It is feared that from early morning almost no part of the state will function normally.

In view of the death of six people in seven road accidents over 24 hours from Thursday through to Friday, activists are calling for stiffer penalties and reduction of speed limits.

SOS Traffic Crimes, set up by relatives of traffic victims, has been pushing for a change in the legal framework, as currently road accidents are legally designated a misdemeanor or manslaughter.
