Turkish traffic police officer shoots driver in leg in Istanbul

A traffic police officer shot a minibus driver in the leg after a quarrel over writing a traffic ticket escalated in Istanbul's Maltepe district on June 25.

A traffic police officer stopped a minibus in Maltepe and wrote a ticket for permitting too many passengers onto the minibus. 

Metrobus accident in Istanbul leaves one injured

A passenger was injured when a metrobus crashed into a construction container on Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge.

The metrobus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle right after passing the Bosphorus Bridge toll booths. It only stopped when it crashed into a container on the road.

The injured passenger has been taken to a hospital.

Maritsa Motorway Section Svilengrad - Kapitan Andreevo Opens for Traffic June 7

On June 7, an 8.6-km section of the right lane of the Maritsa motorway section connecting Svilengrad and Kapitan Andreevo will open for traffic.

The project was implemented with funding from the state budget under the New Construction program of Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency.

Traffic accidents down in March

Traffic accidents in the month of March decreased by 13.1 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), but the number of the people that died on the streets of the country rose by 18.8 percent.
