New autonomous zone established in Ljubljana
Ljubljana – A new autonomous zone has been created in Ljubljana near the Žale cemetery in premises owned by the bad bank but left to decay for several years. The users of what has been named the Participative Ljubljana Autonomous Zone (PLAC) expect they will not have to face police but support in “creating a healthy and open society”.

Ljubljana city council endorses Rog project
Ljubljana – The Ljubljana city council endorsed on Monday the decree founding the public institute Rog Centre that is to be set up in the defunct Ljubljana bicycle factory Rog. This comes after an autonomous social and cultural community was evicted from the premises in January.

Protest after riot police enter Metelkova compound
Ljubljana – Several dozen riot police entered the AKC Metelkova alternative culture centre on Monday evening, ostensibly to check whether clubs are closed, a move that prompted protests by the proprietors of Metelkova clubs and the artists and craftsmen who have studios there.

Scuffles broke out in Ljubljana on Tuesday between police and squatters who claimed they were forcibly removed from the former Rog bicycle factory, which has been used as a squatted social and cultural centre since 2006.
Govt for memorandum on Ljubljana Passenger Terminal with key stakeholders
Ljubljana – The government decided on Thursday to sign a memorandum of understanding with all key stakeholders of the Ljubljana Passenger Terminal, a public-private project that is to make Ljubljana a modern transport hub. Construction work is expected to be launched in 2022.
