Djokovic loses to Wawrinka in US Open final

NEW YORK - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the current world number one in men's tennis, has failed to defend his US Open title after losing to Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 in the final early Monday.

Wawrinka won after nearly four hours of play to claim his third career Grand Slam title.

Djokovic is now 24-5 head-to-head against Wawrinka.

Djokovic beats Coric in his Madrid opener

MADRID - World number one Novak Djokovic beat young Croat Borna Coric 6-2, 6-4 in the second round of Madrid Open on Wednesday.
    
Top seed Djokovic claimed victory in his first career meeting with Coric after 79 minutes of play and will next face Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut, who defeated his compatriot Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 earlier today.
    

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov Proceeds to Third Round of Australian Open

The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the third round of Australian Open.

In a match from the second round played on Wednesday, Dimitrov defeated Argentinian Marco Trungelliti with 6:3, 4:6, 6:2, 7:5.

In the third round the Bulgarian will face Roger Federer, who defeated Alexandr Dolgopolov from Ukraine with 6:3, 7:5, 6:1.
