Bulgarians in Germany will Vote for a European Parliament in 21 Cities

For the first time, Bulgarian citizens in Germany will be able to vote in 13 additional sections during the elections for Bulgarian representatives in the European Parliament on May 26th. The federal authorities have respected our country's desire to open more sections.

The Bulgarian Consul in Los Angeles Heads the Presidency of the EU Group

The Consul General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, Veselin Valchev, was elected Chairman of the General Consuls Group of the Member States of the European Union for 2018, reports BNT. 

Traditionally, group presidents are elected for one year, regardless of the country holding the EU Council presidency.

Consuls general in Istanbul visit site of Beşiktaş terror attacks

Consuls general in Istanbul visited the site of the deadly twin bombings in front of the Vodafone Arena stadium in Beşiktaş on Dec. 12, laying wreaths at the scene.

Foreign mission representatives of more than 30 countries in Istanbul gathered in Dolmabahçe and walked to the site of the attack.

The first wreath was laid by U.S. Consul General in Istanbul Jennifer Davis.

ForMin Corlatean: Law doesn't allow setting up new polling stations; booth and stamp number will grow

Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean on Friday stated that the law doesn't allow the setting up of new polling stations abroad or extending the voting hours, yet he specified that the number of voting booths and the number of voting stamps can and they will be increased.

Bulgaria Tightens Control over Honorary Consuls

Honorary consuls of Bulgaria will be obliged to present reports on their activity to the Foreign Minister every four years.

The measure is part of a change to an ordinance on honorary consuls which has been approved by the government.

The amendment seeks to tighten control over the work of honorary consuls and monitor its efficiency.
