Yesterday Hundreds of Roma People Demanded the Resignation of Deputy PM with a Protest in Sofia

More than 200 people of Roma origin went on Monday to protest at the Council of Ministers with the request for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krassimir Karakachanov. Their discontent was provoked by the demolition of the Roma neighborhood in the village of Voyvodinovo in Plovdiv and Karakachanov's comment that "the Gypsies have become extremely insolent".

Migrant fishermen who rescued Mati fire victims to be made Greek citizens

Three migrant fishermen who helped rescue dozens of people from the sea during the deadly wildfire near Athens last summer are to be made Greek citizens.

The three migrants, two Egyptians and one Albanian, will be granted citizenship during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday in recognition of their actions.

Gunshots injure 13 in Roma camp in Rhodes

Thirteen people were hospitalized in Rhodes on Tuesday morning with gunshot wounds following an incident outside a Roma camp on the island, the state-run Athens-Macedonian news agency reported.

Based on initial information, three Roma in a car stopped shortly after noon outside the camp at Karakonero and opened fire.

It is not known what the motives of the assailants were.
