Bulgaria: Proposal to Abolish Indefinite Identity Cards for Citizens Over 58
A proposal to abolish the issuance of indefinite identity cards for Bulgarian citizens aged over 58 has been put forward by members of the GERB party, including former interior ministers Manoil Manov, Hristo Terziyski, and Mladen Marinov.
Church wary over new IDs
The Church of Greece has said it will issue an opinion on the new identity cards this week.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens has called for "judiciousness and prudence" on an issue that has energized conspiracists among the faithful, including some bishops, and which has already led to protest rallies and plans for more.

More than 256,000 Romanians had voted abroad in the general election until Sunday as of 21:00 hrs, with 21,329 of these votes being cast by mail, the Permanent Electoral Authority announced on its website. In Spain, the country with one of the largest Romanian communities abroad, 140 polling stations were organized, in which more than 32,000 people cast their ballots.
