Turkey has launched the mass production of respirators with 1,000 products on the manufacturing line for the Health Ministry to use, along with 5,000 others ordered, Science and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said on March 26.

Turkey subjects ventilators to export control
Turkey has subjected ventilators to export control in order to meet domestic demand amid the coronavirus pandemic, the country's trade minister said on March 26.
"Ventilator, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), ventilation consumables, intubation tubes, intensive care monitors are subjected to prior authorization," Ruhsat Pekcan said in a tweet.

Turkish tomato exports to Russia resume
Turkish tomato exports to Russia have resumed on March 7 after a month-long disruption due to the yearly quota limit.
Moscow decided to lift the yearly quote from 150,000 tons to 200,000 tons after some containers carrying Turkish tomatoes were returned last month, saying that the quota limit was already met.

Turkey subjects protective gear to export controls
Turkey has subjected protective products such as masks, goggles, and sterile gloves to export controls, according to a regulation published in the Official Gazette on March 4.
The move aims to meet domestic demand as the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, continues to spread worldwide, Turkish Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan told a press conference in the capital Ankara.

Turkey appeals to EU envoys to upgrade customs union
Turkish Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan has told the ambassadors of EU countries in Ankara that Turkey is waiting for the European Commission to renew the 1996 customs union agreement.
"Your contributions in this sense are exceptionally important. We invite you to work with the business world," she said at a meeting with the EU Delegation to Turkey on Feb. 26.

Turkey and Croatia aim to reach a trade volume of $5 billion, Turkey's trade minister said on Feb. 11.
"We are working on new areas to improve cooperation, and boost mutual investments and the trade volume," said Ruhsar Pekcan in Zagreb, Croatia's capital, for an economic roundtable meeting.
Turkey seizes record 2 tons of marijuana at border gate
Turkish customs officials seized a record two tons of marijuana at the border crossing with Bulgaria, the country's trade minister said on Feb. 11.
"In an operation carried out at the Kapıkule [customs gate] by customs officials of our ministry, 2.07 tons marijuana were seized, and a new record has been broken," Ruhsar Pekcan said in a tweet.
