Russia Bids Nemtsov Goodbye

The memorial service in honor of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov started at 10 am Moscow time Tuesday.

Nemtsov was shot on February 27 in front of his girlfriend in the Russian capital, raising suspicions on ordered murder and the participation of the current Putin cabinet.

VIENNA, BELGRADE -- OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dacic and Secretary General Lamberto Zannier on Monday condemned the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.

They urged "a swift and thorough investigation."

"I offer my deepest condolences to his family," Dacic said.

Lavrov, Kerry Discuss Minsk Ceasefire, Nemtsov's Murder

US State Secretary John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met in Geneva on Monday, as the UN Human Rights Office released its latest report on the death toll in Ukraine.

According to the report, the number of people killed in eastern Ukraine since April 2014 surpassed the 6000 mark, despite the successive ceasefire agreements.

Kerry, Lavrov open tough talks on Ukraine, Nemtsov

US Secretary of State John Kerry began tough talks in Geneva on March 2 with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov due to focus on the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
      
Kerry was also expected to press Lavrov to ensure that Moscow carries out a credible investigation into the assassination of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.        

Thousands March in Moscow to Honour Murdered Boris Nemtsov

Thousands of people began a march in central Moscow on Sunday afternoon to honour the memory of the murdered Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.

Moscow police said some 16,500 people were taking part in the march about an hour after it started around 3 pm local time (1200 GMT), RIA Novosti reported. Earlier, AFP put the the number of the participants at over 10,000.

UN Chief Calls for Bringing Nemtsov's Killers to Justice 'Swiftly'

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned the assassination of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov and said he expected the perpetrators "to be brought to justice swiftly."

Nemtsov was gunned down on 27 February in central Moscow by unknown assailants. Russian authorities have announced an investigation into the case.

Bulgarian President: We Are Concerned about Russia over Nemtsov's Death

"We love and respect this Russia that gave the world many achievements and culture, but are concerned for this Russia where such killings happen," President Rosen Plenveliev has said.

The comment of Bulgaria's head of state was dedicated to the murder of opposition activist Boris Nemtsov who was shot dead last week.
