US sanctions attack Turkey’s sovereign rights: FM Çavuşoğlu

The U.S.' unilateral sanctions attack the sovereign rights of Turkey and other countries, the Turkish foreign minister said on Dec. 17. 

In an interview with Turkish news broadcaster 24 TV, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said relations between the two countries could normalize if the U.S. meets Turkey's expectations.

Turkey's presidential advisory board slams US sanctions

Turkey's Presidential High Advisory Board on Dec. 15 condemned the U.S. unilateral sanctions over Turkey's purchase of the Russian S-400 air defense system, said the country's communications director.

The meeting of the board, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, lasted almost one and a half an hour.

A Turkish defense official sanctioned by the United States says bilateral relations will not be affected despite the Trump administration's decision to finally punish Turkey for its purchase of a Russian air defense system.
