Turkey's Akbank secures $1.2 billion loan for 2017

Turkey's Akbank announced on Aug. 15 that it had secured another $1.15 billion equivalent multi-currency syndicated loan for 2017.      
 
The loan, which breaks down into facilities of $542.6 million and 515.1 million euros, marks the bank's second round of refinancing in 2017 and will be used for the lender's trade finance and for general corporate purposes.        

Istanbul Jazz Festival to finish with migrant concert

The 24th Istanbul Jazz Festival will finish with a concert on July 21, featuring the Syrian Women's Chorus, composed of Syrian women who migrated to Istanbul.

In the concert, the chorus will accompany the Syrian saxophone player Basel Rajoub's band "Sorina" and Sirojiddin Juraev, a master performer of long-necked lutes from Central Asia.

Türk Telekom tops Turkey's leading brand list

A leading British consultancy named Türk Telekom on June 14 as Turkey's most valuable brand for 2017.        
According to the London-based Brand Finance valuation consultancy's list of top 100 Turkish brands for the year, the integrated telecommunications service provider topped the list with a brand value worth more than $2.6 billion.        

Turkish conglomerate Sabancı prioritizes pulling up of low share value: CEO

The head of Sabancı Holding has said the company's shares are currently trading at a discount of around 40 percent, and its priority is to increase this share value to an acceptable level, Reuters has reported. 

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul on May 23, Sabancı Holding CEO Mehmet Göçmen said the company would apply a new management model by this summer. 

Court hands down aggravated life sentence over killing of businessman Özdemir Sabancı

An Istanbul court on May 17 sentenced İsmail Akkol, one of the prime suspects in the 1996 assassination of Sabancı Holding board member Özdemir Sabancı, to an aggravated life sentence in one of the country's most notorious assassinations, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
