Eight people killed, 550 injured in traffic accidents across Turkey at start of Eid al-Adha

Eight people lost their lives and 550 were injured in a total of 300 road accidents across Turkey in the first two days of the extended 10-day long Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) holiday, the Interior Ministry has announced.

On the first day of the holiday, on Aug. 26, four people died and 290 were injured in accidents across the country.

The warehouse fire in Kazichene is now under control, announced the Interior Ministry, quoted by bTV.

Six fire Safety and Population Protection teams work on extinguishing the fire.

There are currently no data for injured people.

The report of the incident was filed around 10.10 am local time earlier today.

U.S. scientists give Greece a lifesaving robot that rescues refugees

A group of U.S. scientists from the Texas A&M University have donated an EM.I.L.Y (Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard) robotic device to the Lesvos coast guard headquarters and the Greek Red Cross to assist their rescue work with refugees and migrants, according to an announcement on Friday.

Fire Near Bulgaria's Dragoman Contained

The fire, which has been raging in a coniferous forest near the town of Dragoman in western Bulgaria, was contained on Tuesday.

However extinguishing of the flames is still continuing and is being hampered by the difficult accessibility of the area, private bTV station informs.

The most probable cause of the fire is a military drill at the tank training area.

Police collect substandard life vests from Syrian migrants

Police in ?zmir have collected substandard life vests from Syrian migrants, who buy them prior to their attempts to cross the Aegean Sea to Greece. 

Police carried out a life vest-collection operation in ?zmir's Basmane neighborhood, which is a common staging point for Syrian migrants as they await a chance to escape to Europe.
