The Bulgarian division of the German company Lidl introduces new higher standards for the quality of the sausage from their own brand that they offer. All sausages from the Pikok, Baroni and Dulano brands, as well as from the "Rodna Stryha" product line, are now produced without the use of mechanically separated meat, which reduces the use of improvers and thickeners, the company said.

Romania Thanks EU for Awarding its Sausage

'Obese cat' in Turkey loses 5.5 kg in 4 months
A fat cat in western Turkey has shed more than five kilograms in four months after its owner hospitalized the pet.
Named "Ta? Kafa" (Stone Head), referring to a Turkish expression for a dumb person, the five-year-old cat was recently taken to the animal treatment center of Nilüfer district in the Bursa province by its owner.

UK Food Supplier Fined after Horse Meat Found in Bulgarian Salami
UK food supplier who sold Bulgarian salami in a Dratford convenience store has been fined GBP 5,000 after it turned out that the product contained nearly 50% horse meat.
This is the first case of its kind in the UK since a horse meat scandal broke in January 2013.
