EU ministers on Dec. 6 agreed on measures to better protect wage levels in Europe and give workers more power to oppose low pay.

While the proposal does not set an EU-wide minimum wage, once confirmed it would mark a significant step in promoting the European social model, especially in eastern European countries where salaries are low.

Ljubljana, 22 September – The average gross pay in Slovenia in July stood at EUR 1,941, down 0.6% nominally and 0.2% in real terms on June. Totalling EUR 1,250, the average net pay was down 0.5% in nominal terms and 0.9% in real terms, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

Ljubljana – The average gross pay in Slovenia in June stood at EUR 1,952, down 2.8% nominally on May and down 3.4% in real terms. Totalling EUR 1,256, the average net pay in June was down 2.4% in nominal terms and down 3% in real terms, the Statistics Office said on Monday.

The average gross nominal salary was 5,779 RON in June, higher by 84 RON than the previous month, while the average nominal net value has gone up to 3,541 RON, rising by 49 RON (rd 10 Euro), reported to the reference period, according to the data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Prime Minister Florin Citu said that reform in the public sector has started by stopping the salary envelope increase, measure that would also be decided for next year, in addition to digitisation and restructuring of state-owned companies with arrears.
