Research ship harassed by Turkish coast guard
The Meteor, a research ship conducting research on behalf of the University of Heidelberg in Germany in the sea between Samothrace and Limnos in the eastern Aegean, was harassed on Friday by Turkish coast guard officers who warned the captain to leave, saying the vessel was in Turkish waters.

Samothraki: Two days after the disaster (SHOCKING PHOTOS)
The people of Samothraki are still trying to put their lives in order, clear the rubble from their businesses and houses.
The damages that the island sustained from the extremely heavy rainfall all through Monday night had its toll on the properties of everyone there and on the infrastructure of the island.
Greek island in state of emergency after storm flooding
Greek authorities have declared the northern Aegean Sea island of Samothraki in a state of emergency after storms severely damaged roads, buildings and the drinking water supply. No deaths or injuries have been reported.
A government statement said Wednesday that military and civilian teams from other parts of the country have been sent to Samothraki to help repair the flood damage.

The heavy rain that hit Greece in the late hours of Monday caused serious problems in many parts of the country and especially the island of Samothraki at the northern Aegean.
The island was hit very hard by the phenomena. Streets, houses and houses were flooded. Four people had to be rescued from their flooded car.

The recent spike in Turkish provocations in the Aegean and incendiary comments emanating from Ankara are aimed at testing Greece's resolve, according to Greek analysts.

Four jets enter Greek air space
Four Turkish military aircraft entered Greek air space without permission on Monday, according to military officials in Athens.
Two of the jets, identified as F-16s, entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) at 3 p.m. before flying over the tiny islet of Panaghia, east of the eastern Aegean island of Chios, at 8,800 feet.

Winged Victory of Samothrace to be brought to Greece – two of them!
The Louvre Museum has agreed to the reproduction of one of its most prized posessions – the Nike of Samothrace (Winged Victory of Samothrace). Two replicas will be made following the initiative of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Prefect George Pavlidis who stressed the statue’s significance to the cultural heritage of Samothrace.
