An ancient Roman sarcophagus has been found in Turkey's Aegean region, local officials have said.

Police said Monday that a 34-year-old man has been arrested in the town of Mytikas, near Preveza in northwestern Greece, for the illegal possession of antiquities hidden on his property.

The sarcophagus, which was found during illegal excavations in the ancient city of Perge in the southern province of Antalya, was delivered to Culture and Tourism Ministry officials in Geneva on Sept. 13.
