In support of North Cyprus, Aziz Sancar, Türkiye's Nobel laureate in chemistry, has posed with a T-shirt that read "TRNC should be recognized," receiving great praise on social media.

Within the scope of new projects, Mardin's historic Dereiçi neighborhood, which is considered one of Turkey's symbolic places depicting multicultural life where many TV dramas and films have been shot, will be brought to serve tourism.

Nobel chemistry laureate Aziz Sancar's former home in southeastern Turkey will be converted into a museum.

Local authorities in the province of Mardin prepared the project to restore a part of the three-story and 36-room historical mansion in the Savur district, where the Sancar family once lived.

Turkish-American scientist Aziz Sancar, the winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, has advised cancer patients to stay in Turkey and not go to the U.S., stressing the importance of family support in overcoming cancer. 

"I tell cancer patients: 'Do not come to America,'" Sancar said on May 8 during a program broadcast on the U.S.-based Voice of America radio station.

Aziz Sancar is a Turkish-American scientist who on Dec. 10 received the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, shared with two other chemists. He was awarded for his work on human DNA. 

A Turkish-American DNA scientist is among the three names to win this year's Nobel Prize in chemistry, the award-giving body announced on Oct. 7.

Aziz Sancar, Sweden's Tomas Lindahl, and the U.S.-based Paul Modrich won the prize for work on mapping how cells repair damaged DNA.
