Christie’s to sell Isaac Newton’s notes for greatest work

Handwritten notes that show one of history's greatest scientific minds in action are going up for auction in London.

Pages containing Isaac Newton's jotted revisions to his masterwork, the "Principia," are expected to sell next month for between 600,000 pounds and 900,000 pounds ($850,000 and $1.3 million), auctioneer Christie's said on June 1.

Jožef Stefan Institute shares top prize in Pandemic Response Challenge

Los Angeles – A team of artificial intelligence experts at the Jožef Stefan Institute has won the second grand prize at the Pandemic Response Challenge. The Slovenian team, led by Mitja Luštrek, head of the ambient intelligence group, will equally share the $500,000 prize with a Spanish team from Valencia.

Quarantine word of the year 2020

Ljubljana – The word of the year 2020 according to the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) is “quarantine”, followed by “cycling” in second and “14 days” in third place.

Apart from the 14-day period of isolation due to risky contacts which was later shortened to 10 days, quarantine was also used to refer to the lockdown in general.
