Govt. seeks to criminalize participation in wars abroad

BELGRADE -- The government will discuss amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure that would treat participation of Serbian citizens in wars abroad as a criminal act.

Serbian Minister of Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić announced this in an interview for the Belgrade-based daily Danas.

Parliament constituted

BELGRADE - Setting up working bodies and standing delegations to international parliamentary institutions marked the end of the constitution of the Serbian National Assembly on Thursday, and a new session is about to start to discuss amendments to the laws on government and ministries, whose passage is a prerequisite for forming a new government.

Serbian parliament to have six deputy speakers

BELGRADE -- The new Serbian parliament will have six deputy speakers - two of whom will come from the Serb Progressive Party (SNS).

The Democratic Party (DS), the New Democratic Party (NDS), the Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) and the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) will have one each.

Most MP group leaders chosen

BELGRADE - The leaders and deputies of most of eleven MP groups in the new parliament have been chosen after the constitutive session of the Serbian parliament on Wednesday.

As Tanjug was told at the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Zoran Babic will again lead the party's MP group in the parliament, with Maja Gojkovic as his deputy.
