A search and rescue operation is underway for two airmen on the island of Evia after their Canadair firefighting aircraft crashed while battling the wildfire that is raging in the southern part of the island.

Teams reach lifeless body of person missing at Cilo Mountain
The search and rescue teams have found the lifeless body of one of the two individuals trapped under the shattered ice mass in the Cilo Glaciers region of the southeastern province of Hakkari.
Early on July 16, contact was lost with four members of an 18-person group who went on a nature hike to the Cilo Mountains and Sat Glacier Lakes at an altitude of 4,000 meters.

The Kalamata Coast Guard on Thursday announced the launch of an inquiry into the sinking of a boat carrying hundreds of migrants in international waters off the coast of the Peloponnese, 47 nautical miles southwest of Pylos.
Pylos shipwreck death toll continues to climb with 78 bodies found
At least 78 bodies have been found by rescuers conducting search-and-rescue operations on Wednesday following the capsizing of a fishing vessel off the town of Pylos in the Peloponnese. There are fears that the death toll may still yet increase further. 104 people on board have been rescued, with information suggesting that the people on board may have exceeded 400.
Dozens of migrants dead, fears for hundreds missing in Greece shipwreck
At least 79 migrants died after their boat sank off the Peloponnese, Greece's coastguard said Wednesday, as concern mounted that the death toll could rise much higher.
Some 100 people were rescued after the packed fishing boat capsized in international waters in the Ionian Sea in an operation complicated by strong winds, the coastguard said.
One dead after migrant boat half-sinks off Mani
One person died after a sailboat carrying dozens of migrants run aground ground and half-sunk on a beach on the western coast of the Mani Peninsula, southern Greece, late Wednesday night, the Coast Guard said.
Authorities said they found 47 migrants on the beach of Arfigia who managed to disembark from the vessel, while one person died while he was still on the boat.

Boat with 400 migrants adrift between Greece and Malta, support service says
A vessel with around 400 people on board is adrift between Greece and Malta and is taking on water, support service Alarm Phone said on Sunday, after a sharp rise of migrant boats crossing the Mediterranean from North Africa.
