Independent MP in talks with Kammenos

An MP who was expelled from the New Democracy parliamentary group last October has said she will explore policy similarities with the Independent Greeks party.

Katerina Papakosta was removed from the main opposition party's parliamentary group for straying from the party line. She subsequently set up the New Greek Momentum party.

PM's office does not rule out seeking enhanced majority for name deal

In a statement on Tuesday, the office of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras indicated that the government would want to secure a broad consensus in Parliament following demands by junior coalition partner Panos Kammenos for an enhanced majority of 180 seats in the 300-seat House.

A Supreme Court prosecutor ordered on Friday an investigation into statements made by the now-former Golden Dawn MP Constantinos Barbarousis for possible treason charges, after he urged the army to arrest Greece's prime minister, president and government coalition partner for what he viewed as a "treasonous" agreement with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) over its name.
