Iranian Twitter users get playful with U.S. President Obama

Twitter may be officially banned in Iran, but this did not stop Iranians from tweeting snapshots of themselves as U.S. President Barack Obama gave his speech on the Iranian nuclear deal, broadcast live on TV uncensored.

Young Iranians grabbed at the opportunity to take unusual selfies - against the TV screens with Obama - and then post these to social media.

Selfie sticks banned in museums

London's National Gallery has banned selfie sticks, it said on March 11, following the lead of museums around the world alarmed by the possible hazards to visitors and artworks.

Selfie sticks, the hugely popular extending rods onto which a smartphone or camera can be fitted to provide a better angle for a self-portrait, are classed as tripods under the National Gallery's rules.

Germans react to Bild’s snide ‘Der Angriff’ campaign against Greece

The German Journalists Association (Verband der Journalisten der DDR, abbreviated VDJ)  and many an Internet users are in uproar against German tabloid Bild’s unprovoked anti-Greek campaign.

Bild asked its readers to take selfies saying “Nein” to a request of extending the loan agreement, a day before it is voted on by the Bundestag, and to send the photos through an e-mail.

700 NASA photos up for auction

At least 700 photographs from NASA’s “golden era” in space exploration  are being sold by Bloomsbury Auctions in London. This includes the first “selfie” taken in space, as well as a rare image of the first astronaut to ever set foot on the Moon: Neil Armstrong.

 

Brelfie: The new trend which provokes social media

A new trend in social media is called “brelfies”. It calls young mothers to take selfies while they breastfeed.

 

This new trend comes as a reaction to the social media ban on a mother who uploaded a picture while she was breastfeeding. The mother was accused of breaking social media rules on naked content.
