Chairman of Save Romania Union (USR) Dan Barna told on Thursday a press conference in Pitesti that the citizens' initiative 'No Convicts in Public Office' will necessarily lead to the amendment of the Constitution. "This citizens' initiative, supported by USR with all its energy, mandatorily amends the Constitution.

The National Executive Committee of the PSD (Social Democratic Party) is set to have a meeting on Sunday at the Parliament Palace, to discuss, among other things, a presentation related to administrative matters and the budget drafts for 2019, and also the preparation of the campaign for the elections to the European Parliament in May this year.

A bill submitted by Romania's ruling Social Democrat Party, PSD, requires non-governmental organizations to declare their sources of funding every six months or face dissolution, causing great concern among civic activists and opposition party politicians in Bucharest. 

Romania's third force, a year-old anti-corruption party called the Save Romania Union, is facing a leadership vacuum after an internal referendum over whether it should take a clear stance and vote against changing the constitution to include the conservative definition of family, as a union between a man and a woman.
