Serbian and Macedonian minister discuss military cooperation

BELGRADE -- Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić and his Macedonian counterpart Zoran Jolevski met in Belgrade on Wednesday.

They discussed "perspectives for improvement of the two countries' cooperation and regional cooperation."

BELGRADE - A photographic exhibition titled "A city's pursuits and dreams - World Cities Day and the EXPO 2010 Shanghai, China" will open at Belgrade's Dom kulture Studentski grad on Wednesday.

The exhibition represents a kind of journey through Shanghai, one of the largest, most modern and most developed cities in the world.

BELGRADE - A team of the Belgrade-based Mathematical Grammar School have scooped three gold medals in the international tournament for gifted students in Perm, Russia.

They won the medals in mathematics, physics and computer programming, reads a release by the Mathematical Grammar School.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Vladeta Kostic, a Serbian MP from Kosovo-Metohija, called on the international community on Tuesday to take all measures necessary to prevent the spread of anti-Serb violence in the province.

KLINA - A house owned by a family of Serb returnees has been torched in the Drsnik village in Kosovo-Metohija's Klina municipality, the head of the Pec District Vinka Radosavljevic told Tanjug on Tuesday.

The incident took place at around 9 p.m. on Monday, and there was no one in the house at the time the fire broke out.

BELGRADE - A total of 13 Serbian companies will have their presentations organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) at the international food industry trade fair SIAL 2014 in Paris on October 23.

According to a release from the PKS, the companies will be exhibiting via PKS facilitation for the first time.

BELGRADE - Acting on behalf of the Italian government, Italian Ambassador to Serbia Giuseppe Manzo Monday presented Belgrade University with Italian grammar and literature books for use by the lecturers and students of its Faculty of Philology Italian Studies Department, a symbolic act to mark the beginning of the 14th Annual Italian Language Week in the World.

BELGRADE - Belgrade was liberated from Nazi occupation on October 20 70 years ago, after four years of occupation that resulted in the death of around 60,000 people.

The operation to free the city was conducted jointly by the Yugoslav Partisans and the Soviet Red Army. They fought for each street and building from October 11 to 20.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Eleven attacks against Serbs and their property have been registered this year, and the incidents are a direct attack on the process of the return of displaced persons, says Kosovo's minister for return and communities Dalibor Jevtic.
