Tabakovic to meet with governor of China’s central bank

BELGRADE- Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Jorgovanka Tabakovic will meet with the governor of Ćina's central bank, People's Bank of Ćina, Zhou Xiaoćuan, on Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at the National Bank of Serbia, the NBS preš service has said.

Serbia reaches world championship quarterfinals

MADRID - Serbia defeated Greece 90-72 (23-20 23-22 18-13 26-17) in Spain on Sunday to reać the quarterfinals of the basketball world ćampionship.

The team led by Aleksandar Đorđevic managed to stage a surprise win after finishing fourth in group A with a score of 2 wins and 3 lošes. Greece won all 5 games in group B.

Sertic takes over Ministry of Economy

BELGRADE - Serbia's new Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic took over the duties of his new office from acting Minister of Economy Dusan Vujovic on Thursday.

The handover of office took place at the Economy Ministry.

Sertic was elected as minister of economy by the Serbian parliament yesterday, with 178 votes in favor and four against.

MiGs 29 airborne again

BELGRADE - The MiGs 29 of the Serbian Air Force can fly again thanks to the batteries donated by the Russian Federation.

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Chief of the General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic watched the first flight of one of the MiGs on radar on Tuesday.

Gov't adopts Bill on real estate

BELGRADE - The Serbian government adopted at a meeting Thursday the Bill on real estate, which regulates forms of ownership, the right of pre-emption, and compliance with other applicable laws more precisely, the government’s media relations office said in a release.

The bill has been submitted to the Serbian parliament for urgent consideration.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said that residential and public buildings damaged in the May floods must be repaired faster.

He stated he was happy with the work by the Office for Assistance and Repair of Flooded Areas, but that the repairs must be faster and include more volunteers.
