Patriarch says Kosovo is "Serbian Jerusalem"

BELGRADE -- Patriarch Irinej has said the anti-Serb violence in Kosovo in March 2004 was an attempt to destroy the root of the Serb people and erase their existence there.

BELGRADE - Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Irinej said on Monday at a forum commemorating the 10th anniversary of the March pogrom, destruction of Serbian holy sites and exodus of the Serbs from Kosovo, that it had been an attempt to destroy the root of the Serbian people and erase their existence in that area.

PRISTINA -Bishop Teodosije of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija served a memorial service at the St. Nikola Churć in Pristina on Monday for the Serbs killed in the pogrom by Albanian extremists in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) ten years ago.

BELGRADE - Ivica Dacic, prime minister of the caretaker government, said on Monday that the international community in Kosovo-Metohija has the duty to bring to justice the perpetrators of the pogrom against the Serbs which took place 10 years ago.

BELGRADE - It is ten years today since a pogrom was committed against Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) and its order-givers and organizers from Albanian political and paramilitary structures have still remained unnamed and unpunished.

Serb leaders in Bosnia praised Serbia’s “fair and democratic” parliamentary polls while some analysts said that a Europe-oriented Belgrade government would be good for its neighbour state.

On the tenth anniversary of violence that left 19 people dead and caused many more to flee their homes, Kosovo Serbs paid homage to the victims and demanded more prosecutions.

BELGRADE - Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Aleksandar Vucic set himself an extremely tight deadline to form Serbia's new government, according to Monday's edition of Belgrade-based tabloid daily Informer.

The newspaper said that Vucic has decided to form the new ruling coalition no later than the Serbian Orthodox Church Easter holiday, or April 20.
