As Sofia marks 145 years since its declaration as the capital of Bulgaria, the capital municipality is abuzz with celebrations commemorating this historic milestone.

Sofia's police department made a significant arrest, detaining an 18-year-old individual with dual Bulgarian and Russian citizenship for attempted murder, according to the Interior Ministry's announcement on Wednesday. The man, taken into custody for 72 hours, faces charges by the prosecuting magistracy.

By order of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, the Vrana Park-Museum and the Military Academy Park in Bulgaria's capital open for visitors today. The Western Gate of Serdica archaeological park, as well as the garden near the Alexander Battenberg Mausoleum are also opening today.
