GCS: Romania's COVID-19 case count at 68,046, death toll hits 2,904

As many as 1,415 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded since the last reporting, following national tests, so the total number of infected persons rose to 68,046, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Friday. These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS states.

Coronavirus: 204 new infections, five fatalities

Greek health authorities announced 204 new SARS-CoV-2 infections in the country in the last 24 hours, 12 of which were imported infections detected at the country's entry points.

In its daily report on Thursday, the National Organization of Public Health (EODY) said that the total number of infections has reached 6,381.

Thursday Covid-19 death toll raised to four

Two elderly women from a retirement home in northern Greece who where among the 33 of the 150 residents and three staff members who had tested positive for Covid-19 died on Thursday, bringing the daily death toll to four.

The 88-year-old woman was being treated in Thessaloniki's AHEPA hospital and the 91-year-old was in Papanikolaou Hospital.

These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS states. As of Thursday, 66,631 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus had been confirmed in Romania.

Employee in northern Greek refugee facility tests positive for coronavirus

An employee working at the Sindos shelter for unaccompanied minors in northern Greece has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, a local news website reported on Thursday.

Manos Logothetis, the secretary general for the Reception of Asylum Seekers, told GRTimes.gr that the facility was temporarily quarantined until the tests on all the minors housed there came back negative.

Focus on young people as cases break new record

New SARS-CoV-2 infections recorded a fresh record on Wednesday with health authorities announcing 262 new cases, fueling concerns about the course of the pandemic.

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Wednesday that 1,415 new cases of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded over the previous update, following tests done at the national level. These are cases that had not previously tested positive, the GCS mentions. Until Tuesday, 65,177 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania.
