Argentinian NAVY submarine with 40 crew lost, contradicting news

Argentina Navy submarine ARA SAN JUAN disappeared in waters of Puerto Madryn, northern Patagonia, Argentina, contact with submarine manned with 40 crew lost since Nov 15. It was said that submarine was already located and taken on tow, being disabled after fire, but according to most recent news, citing Navy officials, submarine wasn’t found, her fate, and fate of the crew, unknown.

Turkey emerges as potential buyer of UK helicopter carrier HMS Ocean!

 

The Turkish government is interested in buying the soon-to-be-decommissioned UK helicopter carrier HMS Ocean if it is not sold to Brazil.

In a reply to a parliamentary question, the UK defense ministry confirmed that Turkey sent an expression of interest to UK about the potential sale of HMS Ocean.

The citizens of Piraeus had the opportunity to see three Chinese navy ships sail into their port in the framework of the Chinese initiative under the theme “Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, May 2017. The three ships were the frigate Plans Jing Zhou (FFG-532), the Destroyer Plans Chun (DDG-150) and the Plans Chao Hu (AOR-890) replenishment ship.

WWI Submarine Wreck Discovered

The Germans used to call those submarines 'U-boats' (or U-boot, abbreviation of Unterseeboot or undersea boat in German language). The destruction of enemy shipping by German U-boats was a spectacular feature of both WWI and WWII.

Greek shippers more than double their orders

Greek-owned shipping companies made a total of 58 new ship orders in the first half of the year, which is more than twice the number of orders made in the same period last year, according to VesselsValue.

The data of the ship valuations specialists show that in January-June 2016 Greek shipowners ordered just 28 vessels, a far cry from the 72 orders made in the first half of 2015.

World’s largest cruise ship begins sea trials (pics)

Harmony of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, set off on Thursday for its first sea trial from Saint-Nazaire, western France. She will return to port in 3 days.
STX France indicated this first sea trial aims mainly to test her electric power plant and propulsion system, as well as maneuverability tests.
