The Drilling of the Longest Tunnel in Bulgaria Has Begun

The drilling of the longest tunnel in Bulgaria - "Zheleznitsa" has begun. The 2,2 km long tunnel is  is part of LOT 3.1. on the Struma Highway an will be located near Simitli. The auction for its drilling was won by ZZD AM Struma Tunnel 2018, which includes the companies GP Group AD, Global Construction OOD and VIA PLAN EOOD.

Lyulin Motorway will be Part of Struma, Kalotina-Sofia Renamed to Europe Motorway

The Lyulin motorway will be part of the Struma motorway, while the Kalotina-Sofia road is renamed to Europe Motorway that will include the new beltway north of Sofia city. This is stipulated in a decision by which government reaffirmed the list of national roads and approved the list of national roads with tolls, the government press office said, reports Focus News Agency. 

Thousands in Bulgaria Protest Against Mountain Construction Plans

Several thousands people took the streets of Bulgarian capital of Sofia, with hundreds more protesting in nine more cities across the country, after the government decision to allow constructions at the Pirin National Park.

Chanting "Mafia" and "Resignation" the protesters have blocked the Eagles' Bridge in central Sofia.

Miner Died in an Incident at Oranovo Coal Mine, South-West Bulgaria

55-year-old miner died in an incident at Oranovo coal mine near Simitli, South-West Bulgaria in the afternnon on 14th of November.

According to information from the Chief Labour Inspectorate in Kyustendil, the miner was crushed by an empty mining trolley in a sloping gallery. The man was taken to hospital in Blagoevgrad, where he later died because of serious injuries.

Three French People In Hospital After Car Crash Around Simitli

The French people which were injured in a car accident on the E-79 road around Simitli, Bulgarian city, are in hospital, said a reporter of BGNES.

Around 18:00 last night a minivan "Ford" with a French registration, travelling from Blagoevgrad to Kresna Gorge went into the oncoming lane, went out of the road and crashes into a tree.

3-Magnitude Earthquake Felt Near Bulgaria's Blagoevgrad

A 3-magnitude earthquake has been registered on the territory of Bulgaria, near Blagoevgrad, reported BGNES.

The earthquake was felt at 12.30 hrs with an epicentre 7 km east of Simitli, 15 km southeast of Blagoevgrad and 89 km from Sofia with a depth of 2 km.

There are no reports of material damages.
