Minimum wage set to exceed €800 by April, says FM

The National Economy and Finance Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis, announced on Sunday that the minimum wage increase, set to exceed 800 euros, will be revealed by the end of March to take effect from April 1. 

In an interview on SKAI TV, Hatzidakis emphasized the government's commitment to redistributing surplus in case of high growth rates. 

Gov’t rules out referendum on same-sex marriage bill

The government has ruled out the possibility of conducting a referendum on the matter of marriage and childbearing for same-sex couples. 

In an interview on Skai radio on Friday, spokesman Pavlos Marinakis emphasized that while the government respects the role and views of the Church, it remains committed to implementing its policy program.

Pink flag sparks dispute

The Greek Consulate in New York has removed a pink flag artwork, in the design of the country's flag, against domestic violence, sparking a dispute. Government officials said that it had been taken down at the request of the Foreign Ministry. 

Man killed in accident at US Embassy worksite

A worker has been reported killed at a construction site in the US Embassy in Athens, after being crushed by a wall on Wednesday morning.

According to TV broadcaster Skai, the man was rushed to the capital's Evangelismos Hospital where his death was confirmed.

The circumstances that led to the accident are being investigated.

New education minister: Article 16 an ‘anachronism’

The recently appointed Education Minister, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, has affirmed his dedication to pushing for a review of Article 16 in the Greek Constitution, which currently prohibits the establishment of private universities. "Article 16 is an anachronism, and we are determined to change it," he said during an interview with Skai radio on Monday.
