Cybersecurity bill to be tabled next week

The draft law on cybersecurity will be tabled in the relevant parliamentary committees next week, so that "there will be one body in charge of all the organizations and services - both public and private - that will protect us from attacks," Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou said on Friday in an interview with Skai TV.

Georgiadis looks to make life easier for working pensioners

The government is preparing legislation that will change the amount docked from pensions for pensioners that go back to work, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Adonis Georgiadis told Skai TV on Sunday.

He said a current flat rate of 30% will be replaced by a system that is proportional and based on the number of days worked.

Wastewater viral load in Athens points to 80,000-90,000 Covid-19 carriers, professor says

Takeaway ban taken back

After initially announcing a weekend ban on takeaway food in Athens and Thessaloniki early on Saturday, Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis took it back later in the day. 

"The government assessed that the measure of temporary suspension of takeaway will create more confusion and will cause more problems," he said in a statement.

Reopening high schools to be discussed in ‘immediate future’

Education Minister Niki Kerameus said on Friday that the reopening of high schools will be discussed in "the immediate future," without however referring to a specific time frame.

Speaking to Skai TV, she insisted that the reopening of high schools is a priority for the government.

Expert warns of third coronavirus wave in February

A third wave of coronavirus in February would put too much pressure on Greece's national health system, the president of the Athens and Piraeus hospital doctors' association (EINAP), Matina Pagoni, said Monday.

Speaking on Skai TV, Pagoni said that a nationwide lockdown, currently in place until January 18, will most likely need to be extended by at least two weeks.

Speaking on Skai TV, Ioannis Papadopoulos, who represents health care workers and employees at the hospital, said that only four beds are currently free at the hospital's coronavirus ward, out of a total of 140.
