Turkey Opens Macedonian-Language News Service

Anadolu's bilingual Macedonian and Albanian desk opened in Skopje on Monday as the news agency expanded its operations further into the Balkan region.

The opening ceremony was attended by Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan. The agency's chairman, Senol Kazanci, was also present.  

Hospital Shooting in Skopje Leaves One Doctor, Two Other People Injured

One doctor and two other people were injured in an armed assault at the Abdominal Surgery Clinic in the Macedonian capital of Skopje on Monday morning.

Media report that an angry patient shot at the doctor after an argument with him, the Macedonian Information Agency (MIA) informs.

There is no information on the other two people, who were reportedly injured in the shooting.

Greece to complain to EU over FYROM’s decision to name Alexander the Macedon Museum

The decision of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) to rename the archeological museum of Skopje to “Alexander the Macedon” museum has angered Greek officials who are set to complain to the EU and UN. FYROM had made the move just two days after the first round of talks on confidence-building measures, thus undermining negotiations.

 

Greek Ambassador to Brussels removed because of her anti-Greek stand on FYROM matters

Macedonia Online (MINA), a website focusing on issues of relevance to Skopje, reports taht Alexandra Papadopoulou was removed from her post as Greek Ambassador in Brussels because she failed to follow orders related to Greece’s line on the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
