Koper – A fire that broke out last night under Socerb hill in a hard-to-access area near the border with Italy, south-east of Trieste, has not yet been contained, with a strong bora wind spreading it downhill towards the villages of Osp in Slovenia and Prebenico in Italy. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Washington – The Slovenian coastal town of Piran has made it to a list of the 15 prettiest small towns across Europe by the US television network CNN, which described it as a “mini Venice”.

Koper – Slovenian triathlete Sašo Kočar won Sunday’s half-triathlon event on the Slovenian coast, finishing the race in four hours, twenty minutes and 35 seconds. In the women’s competition, victory went to Joanna Soltysiak of Poland.

Portorož – As the EUSAIR Strategy Forum and the Slovenian presidency of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative (AII) comes to an end, renewed “Protect the Sea” signs were presented in Portorož on Wednesday. They are to help raise awareness about climate change and its impact on the marine and coastal environment.
