Basovizza – Addressing a ceremony marking 95 years since the shooting of four Slovenian anti-fascist fighters in Basovizza, Minister for Slovenians Abroad Matej Arčon said that righting of wrongs and harmony was something that was worth fighting for. He said that if united Europe will overcome the unusual challenges it was faced with.

Slovenia enters autumn wave of Covid-19

Ljubljana – Slovenia has entered the autumn wave of coronavirus infections, which is projected to peak in mid- or late October, modelling expert Janez Žibert of the Ljubljana Faculty of Health Sciences has told the STA. More than 2,500 people tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, which Žibert says indicates the country has entered a new, autumn wave of Covid-19.

Slovenians not as happy with response to Russian aggression as other EU citizens

Brussels – Slovenians are not as supportive of the EU’s and the government’s response to the Russian aggression against Ukraine as most Europeans while they are happier with the state of their national economy than most EU citizens, shows the latest Eurobarometer survey.

Domestic electricity covers only 75% of country’s needs

Ljubljana – Electricity generated in Slovenia met 74.4% of the country’s needs in the first half of the year, down 12 percentage points from the same period in last year for what had been the lowest consumption-generation rate in the last 10 years, the latest data from the Infrastructure Ministry show.
